Job Title:  Scientific/Technical Sales Rep
Location: Elgin, IL
Contract to Hire

Job Overview:  Responsible for developing and maintaining the company's sales through professional sales techniques and quality customer service, maintaining quality relations with existing accounts by performing the following duties.  

  • Develops maximum sales potential from assigned territory through competitive sales techniques and knowledge of the company's products and services as well as the competition's strengths/weaknesses.

  • Establishes annual sales budget.

  • Meets or surpasses the annual sales budget.

  • Reporting to the supervisor to explain the business status.

  • Builds and maintains quality relations with existing assigned accounts, and increases account base and volume of sales on a consistent basis.

  • Updates forecasts for specific products as needed to effectively meet customers’ needs.

  • Contacts customers via telephone, e-mail, correspondence or in person by traveling as frequently as necessary to meet and surpass profitable sales goals for the company. 

  • Reevaluates work on an ongoing basis to increase market share.

  • Assesses quality of offerings and develops opinion reports on strategies to increase the company's market share.

  • Creates customized proposals to meet specific customer requirements in an efficient manner.

  • Stays abreast of market conditions regarding products, product updates, service offerings and new technologies through available resources.

  • Utilizes company leads to expand current customer base and follows up all leads promptly.

  • Maintains updated, organized files on all accounts in assigned territory. - Submits call report to the supervisor within 48 hours after visiting customer.

  • Provides accurate four-month sales forecast for all enzymes for food and industrial use to procurement staff.

  • Updates statuses of “New Projects” for food and industrial businesses and “Company key products” every quarter to provide the information to the supervisor.

  • Submits monthly sales report to the supervisor by the first business day of the next month.

  • Completes and provides sales reports each month on account activity, outstanding proposals, proposals secured, and proposals lost with complete documentation. - Provides information and/or follows up on customers as requested.

  • Promotes a cooperative and constructive atmosphere.

  • Implements 5S Pillars within workplace. 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline such as Chemistry or Biochemistry

  • 2-3 years of previous Sales experience 

  • Bilingual Spanish/English speaking 

  • Academic experience managing projects, managing timelines, putting together presentations, etc.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Approximately 30% local travel once trained
